The Etobicoke Creek marks the western border of the neighbourhood and alongside it is an abundance of parkland include Etobicoke Valley Park, a 19.6 hectare park with a playground, paved creekside trail and four baseball diamonds. The Toronto Golf Club can be found on the other side of the Etobicoke Creek.
Alderwood also has two great community centres, the Alderwood Centre which houses the Alderwood branch of the Toronto Public Library, the Alderwood indoor pool and an outdoor hockey rink. The Franklin Horner Community Centre has a variety of social, fitness, recreation and cultural programs including bingo, cards, zumba, yoga, a woodshop, many programs for seniors as well as those for parents which kids children under 6 as it is a satellite centre for EarlyON.
Commuting
Situated within close proximity to downtown, the Alderwood neighbourhood boasts a variety of transit options, including GO Transit at Long Branch station, the TTC, and easy access to the Gardiner Expressway as well as HWY 427. It’s also close to walking and cycling trails along the Lake.
