Labour Day weekend is almost upon us and it’s the last long weekend of summer. Let’s make it a great one! If you’re staying local this weekend, there’s plenty to do. We’ve got a list chock full of fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend, with something for everyone! Let’s go!
1. Street Classics Swap Meet

When: Monday, September 4th, 6am – 1pm
Where: Canadian Tire, 1608 The Queensway, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 1V1
If you’re a classic car fan, you’ll definitely already know about the Street Classics meets on Saturday evenings. Once a year they also hold a huge swap meet event that falls on the first Monday of September. Whether you’re restoring an old car or just love everything auto, you can head on over to check out rare parts and other delights for car enthusiasts.
2. Food Truck Festival at Canada’s Wonderland

When: Saturday & Sunday, September 2nd & 3rd, 10am – 10pm
Where: Canada’s Wonderland, 1 Canada’s Wonderland Drive, Vaughan, ON L6A 1S6
Calling all thrill-seekers and foodies! You can combine those two passions this weekend just north of Etobicoke in Canada’s Wonderland. The Food Truck Festival is on for four days and there’ll be local eats to whet everyone’s taste buds. There’ll also be live music at various times on Saturday and Sunday, and a firework display on the Sunday night!
3. Downsview Park Ribfest

Where: Downsview Park, 35 Carl Hall Rd, North York, ON M3K 2B6
If you’re looking for even more delicious things to do in Etobicoke, look no further. The great tour of the ribs continues as Ribfest hits Downsview Park this weekend. There’ll be plenty of grilled meat as well as other food on offer. There’ll also be rides and lots of live music to make a fun day out for the whole family.
4. Painting Exhibition at Albion Library

Where: Albion Library, 1515 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9V 1B2
Hanna Kostanski is a local artist whose body of work features some beautiful representations of the sights of Toronto and the surrounding area. Her work will be on display for the whole of September at Albion Library. For another stunning exhibit, you can also check out the work of Sally Noce at Richview Library.
5. Check Out the New South Wing at Sherway Gardens Mall

Where: Sherway Gardens Mall, 25 The West Mall, Etobicoke, ON M9C 1B8
If you love shopping, then you’re no doubt dying to check out the new south wing at Sherway Gardens Mall. It officially opened on Tuesday, August 29th so this will be the first weekend for shoppers to enjoy the fresh new stores, including Zara, Loding, and BonLook.
6. Labour Day Celebration and BBQ

Where: Royal Canadian Legion, 110 Jutland Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 2H1
The Royal Canadian Legion on Jutland always knows how to put on a great BBQ. Aside from plenty of delicious food, there’s also a fully stocked bar, and you can enjoy live music all day.
7. Laugh With Prestige

When: Sunday, September 3rd, 5pm
Where: The Continuation Banquet Hall, 10 Belfield Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 1G1
Iyaibadan is a Toronto standup comedian and all round entertainer. She’ll be taking to the stage along with a long list of other acts to put a smile on your face this Labour Day weekend. There’ll also be musical acts, raffles, and giveaways. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
8. Insects and Their Habitat Walking Tour

Where: Benches across from the Grenadier Café, 200 Parkside Drive, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3
The High Park Sunday walking tours are a great way to get outside and enjoy nature, while learning something new. Suitable for the whole family, these tours are led by volunteers who teach you about the park and the plants and animals that live there. If you’re a fan of bugs, you’ll love this week’s tour led by entomologist, Taylor Leedahl.
9. Introduction to 3D Design for Children

Where: Albion Library, 1515 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9V 1B2
Have a techie kid on your hands? This 3D design workshop for children will be the perfect thing to entertain them on a Saturday morning. Plus it will get their mind going ready for back-to-school. The hands-on session will teach attendees how to create simple 3D designs using specialized applications. Online registration is required through Eventbrite.
10. LAMP Back 2 School Free Community Giveaway

Where: Lakeshore Village Park, 46 Garnett Janes Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8V
It’s not quite the weekend, but is definitely worth a mention. If you’d like to get your hands on some free back to school supplies, you can head over to Lakeshore Village Park on Thursday evening. Aside from free swag, there’ll also be food, music, face painting, a bouncy castle, and a chance to get up close with a police horse!
