Not Sure What to Do This Weekend? We’ve Got You Covered!

With this crazy up and down weather, it’s tough to make plans for today let alone the weekend! Thankfully, there are plenty of fun things to do in Etobicoke this weekend no matter what Mother Nature throws our way. Our list of ten fun activities has something for everyone! Let’s get started!

1. Spin4Kids

When: Saturday, March 4th, 2017, 7:30am

Where: GoodLife Fitness Etobicoke King’s Mill, 3300 Bloor Street West, Etobicoke, M8X 2X4

Cost: Raise minimum team amount

This one-day fundraiser offers a great way to try something new while supporting kids across Canada. This event, run by GoodLife Fitness supports their Kids Foundation which is all about helping Canadian kids live fit and healthy lives! You can head to you local participating GoodLife Fitness and try a new class or even amp up an old fave, all for a great cause. There’ll be costumes, themes, special guests, and prizes; just check out the website for more details!

2. Centennial Park Conservatory Spring Flower Show

When: Daily, 10am – 5pm

Where: Centennial Park Conservatory, 151 Elmcrest Rd, Etobicoke, M9C 3S2

Even if Spring hasn’t quite officially sprung, this week marks the official start of the Centennial Park Conservatory’s spring flower show. It’s definitely worth going to check out their beautiful blooms as well as some of the tropical species that flourish in the warm climate of the conservatory all year round.

3. Cards at Franklin Horner Community Centre

Where: Franklin Horner Community Centre, 432 Horner Avenue, Etobicoke, Ontario M8W 2B2

Cost: $3 – $5

We mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but just in case you missed it Franklin Horner Community Centre runs daily events for seniors, including Euchre on the weekends. This not-for-profit community center is for people of all ages serving southern Etobicoke and surrounding areas. There are lots of programs running throughout the week so be sure to check their website for more details.

4. Salsa on Sundays at Wild Wing

When: Sunday, March 5th, 2017, 6pm – 10:30pm

Where: Wild Wing, 714 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga, L5G 1J6

Cost: $10, ladies free before 7:00pm

Back by popular demand, this event run by Salsa in the 6ix is double on the heat. This lesson takes place upstairs at Wild Wing in Port Credit; this means you can enjoy wings and drinks while strutting your salsa stuff on the dancefloor.

5. Discover the Park High Park Walking Tour

When: Sunday, March 5th, 2017, 10:30am – 12:00pm

Where: The Grenadier Restaurant, 180 Parkside Drive, Toronto, M6S 2X5 (Benches across from Grenadier Restaurant)

If you missed the “First Signs of Spring” tour a couple of weeks back, not to worry, there are many more beautiful High Park walking tours to join. This week’s walk is led by Terry Fahey who will take you on an historical journey to discover the park through archival photos. Even with the chilly temperatures, there’s nothing quite like a Sunday morning walk through High Park.

6. Skating at Your Local Rink

When: Daily

Where: Across the City

Even though some of you may be willing the milder weather to stick around, others just can’t get enough of winter fun! You can make the most of the cold weather this weekend by checking out the drop-in schedules at your local skating rinks. Colonel Sam Smith Park is usually a safe bet it’s open for public skating 9am – 1pm Saturday and Sunday.

7. Go Karting at 401 Mini-Indy

Where: 401 Indy, 37 Stoffel Dr, Toronto, M9W 6A8

Cost: $20+

Looking to gat a rush like you’ve never felt before? Look no further! Whether you take a date or go for a family day out, everyone will enjoy racing on 401 Mini-Indy’s track. They even have junior karts so adults can take younger kids around; that way no one misses out on the fun! And it’s not just all about the karts; there’s glow-in-the-dark mini golf and a cannonball war game too!

8. LAMP Early Years Drop-In

Where: LAMP Community Health Centre, 185 Fifth St, Etobicoke, M8V 2Z5

For younger kids, heading to the LAMP Early Years drop-in program is ideal if you want to stay indoors! They have lots of toys to keep the little ones occupied, as well as crafts and other fun activities.

9. Yin Yoga at Bodhi Tree Studio

When: Saturday, March 4th 2017, 2pm – 3:15pm

Where: Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio, 1066 The Queensway, Toronto, ON M8Z 1P7

Cost: $12

Are you thinking of giving yoga a try but are not ready to commit to a whole series of classes? Bodhi Tree Studio offers this one-off drop-in class so you can get a taste for whether you like it. Yin Yoga is a slow version of yoga so it’s accessible for all fitness levels. It’s especially suitable for those with back pain, weak joints, or overall stress. Sounds good to us!

10. Shannon Butcher Trio at Old Mill

Where: Home Smith Bar, Old Mill, 21 Old Mill Rd, Etobicoke, ON M8X 1G5

Old Mill continues its winter jazz nights with vocalist Shannon Butcher who has released three albums and performed at numerous festivals and concerts throughout Canada! She’s joined by Attila Fias on piano and Ross MacIntyre on bass. Alternatively, if you’d rather get your groove on, you can head into the dining room and listen to Old Mill’s master DJ spinning some greatest hits!
